Day 14 - A Sea Day of Stillness, Sunshine and Self-Care
This morning began with the most beautiful sunrise, soft pinks and golds shimmering across the open sea. It felt like an invitation to slow down and savour the stillness of the day ahead. I began my morning with a short meditation, breathing in the quiet calm that only a sea day can bring — until my phone rang with a gentle reminder from the spa that I had an 8 a.m. facial booked!
I quickly hot-footed it to the spa, just in time for my treatment. It was utterly blissful — soothing music, gentle hands, and the rhythm of the ocean beneath us. My therapist smiled and said my skin was looking more hydrated and glowing, which I like to think is one of the lovely side effects of slowing down and making more time for me.
Afterwards, I headed straight to the gym for a short workout, then back to our suite for a shower before stopping by the Coffee Connection for a light breakfast — my favourite start to a relaxed morning.
Feeling inspired to try something new, I decided that my “new activity of the day” would be bingo. Only a small group had gathered, so we ended up playing a free game. It was light-hearted fun, even though, alas, I didn’t win. Still, it was a lovely way to connect and share a few laughs.
Later, I settled into my favourite quiet spot to do the daily crossword and sudoku, catching up on a few messages and simply letting the day unfold at its own pace.
Joe and I met for lunch, enjoying the usual impeccable service and easy conversation that has become such a comforting rhythm of our days at sea. After lunch, I returned to our suite to sit on the balcony, feeling the warmth of the sun and the gentle sea breeze — my absolute happy place.
Meanwhile, Joe made his way to the Seven Seas Lounge to attend a fascinating talk by the resident speaker, Alec Murphy, titled “What Language Can Tell Us About Places.” He found it truly engaging — full of insights and anecdotes. Afterwards, he treated himself to a couple of rather potent Bloody Marys, which left him feeling very relaxed indeed!
The evening was quiet and easy. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant, enjoying another delicious meal with our now-familiar waitstaff, who always make us feel so welcome. Afterwards, we returned to our room for a peaceful night in, lulled once again by the steady rhythm of the ocean.
