Day 22 - A Playful Sea Day & Gentle Self-Care Before Namibia
This morning the sea was noticeably calmer, with far less wind and cloud as the sun began to rise. The light shimmered across the ocean, giving the whole ship a peaceful, hopeful start to the day.
I headed straight to the gym, followed by my usual veggie juice, easing into the morning with that nourishing routine I’ve come to love. When I returned to the suite, Joe was still fast asleep, so I quietly decided to give myself a little extra treat.
I ran a warm bath, added the special bath salts Leah recommended, and let myself sink into the moment. As I soaked, I listened to my healing hypnosis, allowing body and mind to soften completely. It was blissful — one of those rare pauses where you feel deeply cared for.
Afterwards, I grabbed a coffee and made my way up to Deck 10 for the much-anticipated Country Fair. The entire deck had been cleared of sun loungers, and in their place were stalls run by different crew departments, each offering its own little challenge or activity.
We were given 40 minutes to try as many as possible, collecting raffle tickets at each stall we completed. Some activities were solo, others were competitive, and all of them were playful, creative, and full of laughter. The crew put so much effort and heart into the whole event — it was truly lovely to see their enthusiasm and joy.
Although I didn’t win any of the raffle prizes, it didn’t matter. The energy, fun, and camaraderie made the whole morning feel special.
Afterwards, I settled into my usual quiet time with the crossword and sudoku, letting the excitement soften into a peaceful rhythm.
By then, Joe was up and feeling refreshed enough to head to the pool for a swim before we met for lunch in Compass Rose — always delicious, always relaxing.
The afternoon was wonderfully chilled, both of us enjoying some downtime as the ship continued its course toward Namibia.
We got ready for an early dinner at the Italian restaurant, enjoying the familiar comfort of good food, warm service, and the gentle hum of ship life. Afterwards, we returned to our suite to turn in early.
Tonight the clocks go forward again, bringing us another hour closer to the next chapter of this journey.
Daily Reflection:
Today reminded me of the joy in simple play, the beauty of creativity, and the power of rest.
When we slow down and say yes to fun, life opens its arms and meets us with warmth.
