Day 8 - A Calm Sea and Slow Living: Finding Flow on Board

Today was a sea day, and I can feel myself slipping into that beautiful cruise rhythm where time starts to lose its structure. I honestly have to think twice about what day of the week it is — perhaps a sure sign that I am truly starting to relax.

This morning began with gratitude — for the vast open sea that stretches endlessly beyond the horizon, for the gift of time, and for this moment of calm in the journey. My wonderful A Team had given me a gorgeous travel notebook and pen for my birthday, and today I finally took the time to sit with it, catching up on the last week and filling in the days gone by. It felt lovely to reflect and record it all — each day a small treasure of its own.

After journalling, I wrote a new tapping script for my wonderful EFT group — inspired by this very feeling of freedom and flow. I then made my way to the gym for a good session before enjoying a leisurely breakfast overlooking the ocean.

The rest of the morning unfolded gently. I found a quiet corner in the library, surrounded by the soft rustle of pages and the hum of the sea, where I spent some peaceful time reading, and doing a bit of crossword and sudoku — such simple pleasures that somehow feel luxurious when you finally have the time for them.

I’ve decided that on sea days, I’ll dedicate time to new experiences — little things I rarely make space for at home. So today, I joined the craft group and made a beautiful bracelet for Gaby. It was such a joyful and creative way to spend the morning. In the afternoon, I started a needlework project, which I’m determined to finish by the end of the cruise — a slow and soothing craft that feels perfectly aligned with the rhythm of life at sea.

Meanwhile, Joe had a wonderfully relaxed day of his own. He headed to the pool in the morning before his personal training session, and later was fitted for new insoles to help with his back pain and walking stability — a very practical and positive step forward.

He enjoyed a quiet lunch on his own, while I skipped mine after the big breakfast, and spent the afternoon resting by the pool, chatting with a few fellow travellers, and simply enjoying the sunshine. I, too, spent the afternoon reading on our balcony and chatting with the kids, with the sea breeze and gentle sway of the ship as my perfect companions.

This evening, we had dinner at Prime Seven, the ship’s elegant reservation-only restaurant. The atmosphere was intimate and refined, the service impeccable, and Joe was particularly delighted with his seafood dinner, which he declared one of his favourites so far.

Tonight, the clocks go back another hour, giving us the gift of one more hour of rest — and I’m certainly not complaining. As the ship glides smoothly through the dark waters, I feel deeply content, nourished, and grateful.

Daily Reflection:

Today I found joy in stillness and creativity.
I am reminded that slowing down doesn’t mean doing less — it means doing things with more presence, love, and ease.

Highlight of the Day:
Joining the craft group and creating a bracelet for Gaby — a small, beautiful reminder that creativity blossoms when life slows down.
