Day 33 - 1st of December: Sunrises, Spa Time & A Surprise Itinerary Change

Pinch, punch — happy 1st of December to you all!

A new month, a new chapter, and another day on this extraordinary journey.

Despite the clocks going forward an hour, I still woke in time for yet another magnificent sunrise. The sky was glowing in streaks of gold and coral, and the warmth already rising from the sea made it easy to slip into the day with a grateful heart.

I headed straight to the gym, then up to the pool deck for my refreshing veggie juice, where the sun was already making its presence felt. The air felt bright, soft, and full of promise.

Next stop: the spa, where I treated myself to getting my nails done — a little December pampering to start the month right. Afterwards, I grabbed a coffee and settled into my morning ritual of crossword and sudoku, letting the peaceful rhythm of ship life carry me.

I checked in on Joe, who was enjoying a well-deserved lie-in, making the most of our last sea day for a few days. Once he surfaced, he wandered up to the deck before lunch to catch some rays, soaking in the sunshine with complete contentment.

We met in Compass Rose for lunch before Joe returned to the deck, eager for a quick dip in the pool and some time listening to his audiobook while basking in the afternoon warmth.

My early mornings finally caught up with me, so I had a quick snooze, which was absolutely heavenly. Afterwards, I went to watch a short film on Madagascar, getting excited about our upcoming visit there in just a couple of days.

The afternoon and early evening drifted by in a lovely haze of rest, reading, and gentle stillness, watching the sunset in the most beautiful colours, before it was time to get ready for dinner at Compass Rose. Joe wasn’t feeling very hungry tonight, so he chose soup for both his starter and main, keeping things light and simple.

I would love to hear from you, are you a sunrise or a sunset fan? I lean towards the sunrise, but I have to say the sunsets here are truly beautiful as well and have me spoilt for choice!

Midway through dinner, I glanced at the time and had to dash out — the show was about to start, and I didn’t want to miss it. Tonight’s performance was by Paul Baker, a talented West End star, performing a wonderful selection of musical favourites. To everyone’s delight, he even slipped in our first Christmas song of the season.

The Regent Band were phenomenal as always — polished, joyful, and full of energy.

When I returned to the room afterwards, I found a surprise email from Regent:
they have removed our stop in Melaka and instead given us an overnight stay in Singapore.

Joe was absolutely delighted with this change — more time in a city that I have not yet had the chance to visit, and a chance to explore Singapore properly.

Tomorrow, we arrive in Mayotte, and we are both looking forward to discovering this small but fascinating island.

Daily Reflection:

A new month reminds us to open our hearts to fresh possibilities.
Today was a gentle reminder that joy lives in simple rituals — sunrise, sunshine, stories, and song.

Highlight of the Day:
Paul Baker’s performance — especially the first Christmas song of the season, beautifully delivered with the Regent Band.
