Day 50 - Sea Day Rhythms, Gentle Care & Chanukah Togetherness

Waking up this morning instantly reminded me of the dark winter mornings that will be waiting for us when we eventually return home. But as the sun slowly rose over the horizon, everything softened — and it felt good to slip back into the familiar, comforting rhythm that sea days bring.

The day began as it often does now, grounding and steady:

  • A session at the gym

  • My veggie juice

  • EFT tapping

  • A shower

  • And a relaxed breakfast

These small rituals have become an anchor — something deeply reassuring as we move from place to place.

Learning, Reading & Rest

I then headed to a talk on Mumbai, which was interesting and offered a great preview of what lies ahead later in our journey.

Afterwards, I settled into the library, completing my daily crossword and sudoku, before heading back to check on Joe, who wasn’t feeling quite at his best. It felt clear that a quiet sea day was exactly what was needed — sometimes the most restorative days are the simplest ones.

I spent much of the day reading Manifest by Roxie Nafousi, which I am thoroughly enjoying. It’s a book I’d wholeheartedly recommend — inspiring, accessible, and beautifully aligned with where I am right now.

Nourishment & Care

We ate in Compass Rose for both lunch and dinner today, where the staff were incredibly kind and attentive to Joe.

For lunch, they prepared a light consommé soup — nourishing and gentle on his stomach.
For dinner, they went a step further, boiling fish and vegetables perfectly just for him. These thoughtful gestures really do make all the difference.

After lunch, Joe went to sit on deck with his audiobook, enjoying the fresh air before heading down to his trivia quiz session — where his team proudly came second.

Sun, Thought & Reflection

While Joe was at trivia, I sat on our balcony, soaking up the sun and listening to a Mindvalley meditation. Earlier, I’d also attended a second talk of the day, this one by Dr Robin Craig, titled Great Minds Through Time, which offered plenty of food for thought.

The afternoon felt spacious and unhurried — exactly what was needed.

Evening Entertainment & Family Connection

After dinner, Joe opted for an early night, continuing to rest and recover. I, however, headed off to the evening’s entertainment — a fabulous show by Cleopatra Madonna Higgins, celebrating Divas and their songs.

She was absolutely sensational — powerful, charismatic, and joyful. Her renditions of Tina Turner songs were particularly outstanding, and she soon had the audience on their feet dancing along. The Regent Band, as always, were exceptional.

Later in the evening, we had a video call with all the kids, so that Sam could say the prayers and light the Chanukah candles with everyone present. Seeing and speaking to all of them together was incredibly special — warm, grounding, and full of love.

It’s something we really must try to do more often.

Daily Reflection:

Sometimes the greatest gift is not doing more,
but allowing space —
for rest, for care, and for connection.

Highlight of the Day:

Lighting the Chanukah candles together across screens — hearts fully connected despite the miles.
