Day 51 - A Final Sea Day, Gentle Rituals & Preparing for Mumbai
Today was our final sea day for a week, so I made a conscious decision to fully savour the relaxed pace before the next stretch of busy ports begins.
I started the day just the way I love on sea days — slipping into that familiar, grounding rhythm:
-
A visit to the gym, with plenty of stretching
-
My refreshing veggie juice
-
A leisurely breakfast
-
Then a shower and a gentle start to the day
Afterwards, I headed to the library, completing my daily crossword and sudoku, and finishing my book. It felt satisfying to close that chapter and move straight on to my next read: Nonviolent Communication, which opens with a beautiful poem that immediately sets a thoughtful tone.
Feeling Better & Sharing Time
I met Joe for lunch in Compass Rose, and thankfully he’s feeling much better today. A good night’s sleep and sticking to plain, healthy food is clearly doing the trick, which was such a relief to see.
Afternoon Ease & Reflection
The afternoon unfolded quietly and comfortably. Joe headed up to the pool deck, enjoying the sunshine while listening to his audiobook. I chose to stay on the balcony, soaking up a few rays and listening to another meditation from my Mindvalley Manifesting course.
Later, I caught up on calls and messages from family and friends. Today also brought moments of remembrance — thinking of our loved ones we miss, Diana (Nan) and Bella. They were close in thought, and it felt important to pause and honour them in our own quiet way.
I also managed to do a bit of online Christmas shopping, ticking off a few gifts for those back home — it felt good to stay connected to life beyond the ship.
Evening Plans & Looking Ahead
Joe then went off to his now much-loved trivia quiz, where his team came second again — they’re definitely on a roll — before heading to the Shabbat service.
I popped by reception to RSVP to a few upcoming events we’ve been invited to over the next few days and also booked in some of my remaining beauty treatments.
Dinner was once again in Compass Rose, and it was lovely to see Joe able to eat more confidently — even enjoying a beer, which felt like a positive milestone after the past few days.
Early Night & Mumbai Tomorrow
Tonight will be an early night, as tomorrow brings an early start. We arrive in Mumbai at 6am, and while my tour doesn’t leave until 8:30am, the ship will be bustling with announcements and immigration procedures as everyone disembarks.
Joe won’t be joining a tour — instead, he’s booked himself a trip to the Taj Mahal Hotel for lunch, which I know he’s really looking forward to.
Daily Reflection:
There is something deeply nourishing about a day that asks nothing more of you
than presence, gratitude, and gentle preparation for what comes next.
Highlight of the Day:
✨ Seeing Joe feeling better — relaxed, smiling, and enjoying his food again.
