Day 60 - Sixty Days In, Sea Reflections & A Winning Streak Continues

Wow… Day 60 already. I genuinely cannot comprehend how quickly these last two months have flown by. It feels both long and impossibly short all at the same time.

Last night, Jeff shared the story of a gentleman who had lived on board the ship for many years and who sadly passed away last year at the age of 94. I completely understood why he chose that life. It’s something I’ve thought about before, and now — having lived this rhythm for such a long stretch — I can honestly say I would absolutely do this again. Life at sea has a simplicity and flow that is deeply nourishing.

A Restorative Sea Day

The seas have been a little rougher, with rain and lightning overnight, and it’s definitely cooler today than when we were in Sri Lanka. We’re sailing across the Andaman Sea, heading toward Phuket.

With the clocks going forward another hour last night, I really felt it in my body today — so I was grateful it was a sea day, giving me space to rest and reset. I headed to the gym, grabbed my veggie juice, then showered and eased gently into the day.

We also received a lovely handwritten thank-you note from Jeff and Claudia — another thoughtful touch that makes you feel genuinely cared for on this journey.

A Cozy Ship & Shared Spaces

I had planned to head to the library to read and do my crossword, but it was unusually busy — a sign, I think, that the weather had driven many people indoors. Instead, I found a comfortable seat in the coffee lounge, which turned out to be just as lovely.

Joe and I then went to La Veranda for lunch. It was bustling, but once again the wonderful team worked their magic and found us a table.

Music, Learning & More Wins

Joe had a busy afternoon. He attended a lecture, then joined me for a special performance by Rhiannon, put on exclusively for Grand Voyage guests. Joe wasn’t convinced it would be his kind of thing — until she started singing some of his favourite songs, soprano-style. Safe to say, he was converted.

Then it was quiz time… and yes — his team won again. He is absolutely racking up the points now, so we’ll have to see what he decides to spend them on.

Ray’s Finale & Dinner Comforts

Next came Ray’s finale show. Joe hadn’t seen one of Ray’s performances before, so this was a must. He thoroughly enjoyed it and realised just how much he’d missed by skipping the earlier shows.

We rounded off the day with dinner in Compass Rose, where Joe once again happily polished off his meal — even going back for seconds of the risotto.

Looking Ahead

Now it’s time to sleep. Joe has an early start tomorrow — trivia is being held at 10am as we arrive in Phuket at 11am. Thankfully, our tour has been pushed back by a couple of hours, so there’s no need for a mad dash off the ship.

Daily Reflection:

Time at sea stretches and shrinks all at once.
Sixty days in, I’m reminded that it’s not about counting the days —
it’s about how fully you live inside them.

Highlight of the Day:
Realising that life at sea isn’t just a holiday — it’s a way of living I could happily return to.
