Day 65 - Port Klang & Kuala Lumpur

Today we sailed into Port Klang, the cruise terminal for Kuala Lumpur. We have an overnight here, our final Malaysian stop before heading onwards to Singapore, which makes today feel like a gentle pause before another transition.

We woke to a cloudy and very humid morning. I headed to the gym and grabbed our veggie juices before getting Joe up for yet another pre-9am start. The terminal is a bit of a walk from the ship, but golf carts were available for those who preferred not to walk.

Into Kuala Lumpur

The drive into KL took around 90 minutes, followed by a panoramic city tour with a few photo stops. We then headed toward Chinatown, where those who didn’t want to walk stayed on the bus while others explored. We stopped at Central Market for an hour—Joe opted to sit comfortably with a fresh coconut water, while I enjoyed browsing at my own pace.

Our final stop was Suria KLCC, with a magnificent view of the Petronas Twin Towers. The mall is vast, modern, and bustling, with endless shops and restaurants. We chose Thai food for lunch—delicious, though service was slow.

Shopping highlights included:

  • A pharmacy visit (Joe’s natural habitat), where the pharmacist was surprised when Joe asked for a full box rather than a strip.

  • M&S, where Joe stocked up on thermal underwear in preparation for cooler climates.

  • A notebook stall for me—clearly essential as I’m starting a new Mindvalley course.

We headed back to the ship after a long day. Joe and Chris missed the quiz, so the team placed third, a rare change from their usual winning streak.

That evening, following a recommendation from our lovely friend Yvonne, we returned to the city to dine at Fuego. The food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxed, and the views spectacular—a perfect way to end the day. We returned to the ship happily exhausted and ready for sleep.

Tomorrow, we’ve decided to skip the organised tour and return to Suria KLCC for a relaxed lunch before we set sail.

✨ Daily Reflection

Today felt full but grounding. Kuala Lumpur is busy, modern, and expansive, yet it also offers moments of calm if you allow yourself to step away from the pace. I noticed how much I appreciated being able to move at my own rhythm—letting Joe rest when he needed to, wandering markets without pressure, and enjoying the simple pleasure of sitting with a drink and watching the world go by.

There’s also something reassuring about familiarity—pharmacies, notebooks, M&S—little anchors of normal life appearing in the middle of a grand adventure. As we near the end of this Malaysian chapter, I’m reminded how important it is to balance exploration with ease.
