Day 66 - A Gentle Pause in Kuala Lumpur & Preparing for Singapore
Today we skipped the booked tour, which meant something very precious for Joe — a proper lie-in. A wise decision all round. I started the morning gently with stretching, collected our veggie juices, and got ready at an unhurried pace. It felt nourishing to slow everything down.
I finally completed yesterday’s blog (I was simply too tired last night) and then settled into my familiar rhythm with the crossword and sudoku — little anchors of normality that travel so well.
Back to Suria KLCC
We decided to return to Suria KLCC, taking a taxi via the Grab app (very similar to Uber). It’s about an hour each way, and we needed to be back on the ship by 3pm as we sail at 4pm.
The motivation for the trip was very clear:
👉 Joe wanted Benihana’s for lunch.
He has such fond memories of Benihana in London, and had been looking forward to this. Sadly, the experience didn’t live up to expectations — the food and service were a disappointment, which was frustrating for Joe. Sometimes nostalgia raises the bar impossibly high.
We headed back to the ship in good time, where Joe made it to the quiz with the full team present. Unfortunately, they only came joint 3rd today. Joe was unimpressed and declared that “most of the questions were silly anyway.”
His favourite grievance of the day:
What does H.A.N.D stand for?
Joe insists no one really knows — answers in the comments below are welcome 😄
Afternoon & Evening
I spent the afternoon reading and recording my hypnosis for tomorrow, which is all about stepping into 2026 ✨
If you’d like to join my EFT/Hypnosis WhatsApp group, or would like access to that 2026 hypnosis recording, simply comment “2026” and I’ll share it with you.
I then went to watch the early show by Brett Cave, who was absolutely brilliant once again — piano, vocals, humour, and pure joy. He had the audience dancing to classics from Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, and Phil Collins.
Dinner tonight was at Prime 7, though Joe has officially declared that he’s had enough of Prime 7 for a while and now prefers Compass Rose. Preferences evolve on long voyages! Here is a picture of Joe in his new polo top bought yesterday from our shopping trip, toasting a happy birthday to his old friend Ian. Happy birthday!
One running joke that resurfaced repeatedly tonight:
Every time a tall person walks past us, Joe says
“All these Americans are so very tall!”
If I had £1 for every time he’s said that on this trip, I genuinely think we could have paid for the cruise.
Looking Ahead
Ahead of arriving in Singapore tomorrow, we:
-
Completed landing cards
-
Collected our passports
-
Started the guest survey for this leg of the journey
We’re really looking forward to Singapore, especially as we have an overnight stay thanks to arriving a day early. Best of all, we’ll be meeting up with Luke in the evening — one of the great joys of this journey is reconnecting with people across the world.
✨ Daily Reflection
Today was a reminder that rest is just as valuable as exploration. Choosing not to rush, allowing Joe to sleep, and honouring our own pace felt deeply supportive. Not every plan needs to be fulfilled for a day to be meaningful — sometimes the real win is simply choosing ease.
It also highlighted how expectations shape experience. Nostalgia can be beautiful, but it can also quietly disappoint. When that happens, the lesson is often in letting go rather than holding on.
🌟 Highlight of the Day
🎶 Brett Cave’s early show
Joyful, energetic, familiar music that lifted the mood and reminded me how powerful live performance can be — a perfect bridge between a slow day and an exciting new destination tomorrow.
