Day 69 - Extra Sleep, Sunshine & Settling into a New Rhythm

It was such a treat to gain an extra hour in bed this morning — and even better to wake up to bright sunshine. A perfect start to a sea day.

I headed to the gym… only to find it packed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people in there at once! After being spoilt with quiet gym sessions for the last couple of months, it was a bit of a shock. So I pivoted — laps around the walking track, then I grabbed a mat and took my stretching out onto the deck, soaking up the sunshine. Honestly, it turned out to be a blessing — stretching outdoors with the sea air was absolutely lovely.

After that, I picked up our veggie juices, showered, had breakfast, and headed off to the morning speaker session.

Learning & Leisure

The morning lecture was led once again by Skip, continuing his series — this time focusing on Indonesia. It was fascinating to hear about the country’s layered history and how its culture has been shaped over time.

Afterwards, I settled into my usual rhythm: crossword, reading, and quiet time.

Joe and I then headed to La Verandah for lunch, and once again our luck was in — a deck table with a view, watching the world drift by. Pure bliss.

The afternoon unfolded gently. I attended another talk on The Spice Journey — not quite as gripping as the morning session, but still full of interesting nuggets. Joe, meanwhile, went off to meet his new quiz teammates and came back delighted: joint first place — a first for this new team, and I think they were very happy to have him on board!

Good News from Regent

We decided to skip the Captain’s Cocktail Party and instead enjoy a quiet late afternoon on the balcony.

Then came some very welcome news: due to the ongoing satellite TV issues (not a problem for me, but definitely for Joe!), Regent has upgraded the Wi-Fi for Grand Voyage guests. I now have faster internet and access to YouTube for meditations — and the paid Wi-Fi upgrade Joe purchased will be refunded for this segment. A really thoughtful gesture that made us feel genuinely valued.

Dinner tonight was back at Compass Rose, where Joe enjoyed his main course so much that he ordered seconds — always a good sign.

Tomorrow we arrive at our first Indonesian port, Semarang. A full day tour awaits us — thankfully not too early a start, which will suit Joe just fine.

✨ Daily Reflection

Today was a gentle reminder that flexibility brings unexpected gifts. When Plan A didn’t work (hello, crowded gym), Plan B turned out to be even better. There’s a lesson there — sometimes slowing down, stepping outside, and adapting is exactly what we need.

🌟 Highlight of the Day

🌞 Stretching on deck in the sunshine

Sea air, warmth on my skin, and space to breathe — a simple moment that felt deeply nourishing.
