Day 83 - Rolling Seas, Quiet Gyms & Gentle Preparation for What’s Next
Today was a sea day as we continue sailing toward Brisbane, and the sea has certainly been making its presence known. The swell has been dramatic, with waves rising higher than my balcony at times—absolutely incredible to watch, though not the easiest conditions for walking around the ship. The seas are set to remain choppy through the day and night, only calming once we begin navigating the smaller channels closer to Brisbane.
Thanks to my early night, I was up with the sunrise, which always feels like a gift. I eased into my familiar routine—gym first, and to my delight it was blissfully quiet. I suspect the ship’s movement discouraged many others. Afterwards, I collected our veggie juices. Dennis, who has lovingly made them throughout the voyage, is disembarking in Sydney for a well-deserved break, so another gentleman has now taken over. Another subtle reminder that this chapter is drawing to a close.
After a shower and getting ready, I headed to Skip’s talk on Brisbane, which gave a really interesting insight into the city’s history and character. Then it was time for my crossword and sudoku, followed by finally completing yesterday’s blog—I was simply too exhausted last night.
I spent some quiet time reading before meeting Joe for lunch at La Veranda. After lunch, we went our separate ways. Joe headed off to quiz time, though today his team came fourth, meaning no Regent points—one of those days! I, meanwhile, began reducing my work inbox, a boundary I’m very consciously setting as I prepare to return to work. It feels strange to realise we only have a couple of days left on the ship, followed by time in Sydney and London. The transition is beginning to feel very real.
Later, I went to watch Krew Kapers, still one of my absolute favourite shows on board. It was fantastic as always, with some new crew members joining toward the end—full of energy, humour, and heart.
Dinner tonight was at Compass Rose, a comforting end to a very “at sea” kind of day. Joe also checked in with the excursion desk and confirmed that yes, there will be a beach visit—which made him extremely happy.
One practical note before bed: we need to put out our final laundry bag by 8am tomorrow if we want everything back in time before disembarkation on Friday morning. Another small but poignant reminder that the end of this incredible journey is approaching.
🌿 Daily Reflection
There’s something deeply grounding about a day like today—no ports, no rushing, just movement, rhythm, and space to prepare internally for what’s next. Transitions don’t have to be abrupt; they can be softened with intention.
⭐ Highlight of the Day
Standing at the balcony watching the powerful swell rise and fall—nature reminding me who is really in charge, and how beautiful surrender can be.
