Today was our final tour day, and I genuinely cannot believe I am typing those words. After months of exploring the world from the sea, this chapter is drawing very close to its end.
We were awake early, greeted once again by a beautiful sunrise—something that always feels like a gift in this part of the world. From the balcony, I watched as we sailed into Brisbane Cruise Terminal, which, unfortunately, sits some distance outside the city itself. Still, there was a sense of quiet excitement in the air. The seas were calm, which felt like a kindness on such a full day.
As this was another full-day tour, it meant an early start and a long walk through the terminal to reach the buses. We were lucky again—front-row seats, and even better, seat belts, which immediately put Joe at ease. With that reassurance, we settled in and listened as our guide shared the history of Brisbane and our destination for the day: the Gold Coast.
Our first stop was the iconic Q1 Building, the tallest building in Australia. In just 43 seconds, we were whisked up to the 77th floor, where the 360-degree observation deck gave us sweeping views across the coastline and inland areas. It really gives you a sense of just how vast and beautiful this part of the world is.
From there, things got a bit more playful as we boarded the Aquaduck—a wonderfully quirky amphibious vehicle that took us on both a land and sea tour of Surfers Paradise. It was great fun and a nice change of pace, with plenty of smiles all round.
We were then dropped off at Broadbeach for lunch and a chance to look out at the sea. The ocean was very choppy, and with the sky slightly overcast, swimming was off the cards today—but it was still lovely to sit, breathe, and take it all in.
After lunch, it was back on the bus and a smooth return to the cruise terminal, arriving just in time for trivia. Joe’s team came third today. Tomorrow will be the final trivia of the trip, and after that, he’ll finally be able to claim his Regent goodies—he’s earned enough points for two polo shirts, which has been his goal for weeks!
Back on board, it was time to shower and get ready for the Grand Voyage group photo and farewell dinner. We were especially lucky to be seated with Carlos, the Executive Concierge. He truly is a wonderful person—kind, attentive, and endlessly helpful. He’s also managed to resolve our luggage forwarding issue, which will make Joe very happy when he hears the good news tomorrow.
Dinner was delicious, and the speeches were beautiful and heartfelt, filled with gratitude, shared memories, and a deep sense of connection formed over the last three months. It was a poignant reminder of just how special this journey has been.
As we now sail toward Sydney, the seas have once again turned choppy, almost as if the ocean itself is marking the transition. Joe decided on an early night, having slept poorly the night before, while I sat quietly with the feeling that something truly extraordinary is coming to a close.
🌿 Daily Reflection
Endings don’t arrive all at once—they unfold gently, moment by moment. Today felt like standing on the threshold, holding gratitude in one hand and anticipation in the other.
